Rio de Janeiro
Living last year in Rio was for sure one of the best experiences of my life and I would do it again without thinking; in this marvelous city you can find literally anything you want and for that reason I compiled a small list of the best things about living in this “Cidade Maravilhosa”.
Beaches
Rio de Janeiro is a beautiful city full of beaches from Flamengo and Botafogo beach (with one of the most beautiful sights of the Sugar Loaf) to popular Copacabana and Ipanema beaches.
Besides these popular beaches you also have others less crowded but still amazing like Pepe beach in Barra da Tijuca, a city placed 45 minutes from Rio.
Parties
In Rio you can enjoy every kind of party you like, from samba parties (rodas de samba) to hip hop clubs. In the downtown there’s a very popular avenue called “Mem de Sá” widely known by it’s party loving style, you can find anything you want there from all the prices you ask for.
Language learning
When you are in Rio, you aren’t not only in Brazil but in the entire world, there are a lot of people traveling for some weeks, studying for a semester or working indefinitely from all over the world, so for sure you will find the perfect way to learn a new language by living it!
And this is not only about Brazilian Portuguese, but with any language that comes to your mind; in my experience I had the opportunity to learn some French with my roommates, and even some Russian from my best friend there!
Nice weather
In Rio the Janeiro winter loses its meaning, temperatures of 25° C degrees during the day can barely be called as winter; on the other hand summer is the perfect time to go to the beach and dance some samba street.
International events
This is not just a beautiful city where you can do anything you like, you can also enjoy some of the most important international events such as Rio Carnival and the 2016 Olympic games in August.

Tourist places
Last but least you have some of the most beautiful landscapes like Sugarloaf sunset or Christ the Redeemer, but this very popular tourist places aren’t the only you can enjoy here, for the trekking lovers you can enjoy the great view of the entire city from the top of Dois Irmãos mountain.
