Archery: Inexpected experiences in Stuttgart

Stuttgart, 27th August 2017

Yesterday was quiet, after the riot at the airport, and the excellent morning I spent talking with Daniel, I went to the Schlossplatz where I took a few photos. At night I went to the apartment of Alex, my host of Couchsurfing, a helicopter pilot who does not get tired of traveling or hosting people. After meeting him and talking with him for a while, I went to buy food and prepare my things for the next day’s hiking.

Today I got up early and ordered my stuff to start with my day. So I walked to the tourist information point near the city center to ask about possible hiking trails in the nature 🌲 near Stuttgart.

I took the subway and headed to the beginning of the trail. The route was quite clear, so there was no way to get lost, yet I took a path closer to the creek that stretched along the tour. There the view was much more beautiful and wild, although it was a bit difficult to walk.

I was able to take a couple of pictures of some snails and a very small frog that was almost imposible to watch if it wasn’t because I was paying attention to the ground.

Stuttgart woods and forest

After taking many photos to the creek, trees and snails of different colors and with different senses of humor😁, I arrived at a small pond next to which there was a family celebrating the birthday of their twins, accompanied by their friends of about 12 years. It seemed a very intimate celebration that they had decided to do in the middle of the forest. Apparently the Germans sing the happy birthday in English 🇬🇧!

I passed by the side greeting them and when I was about to go to the other side of the pond to eat my snack, I had the feeling that it was better to stay in the beanch that were near them, you know, in case they want to invite me to celebrate with them 😂

The children looked very happy playing archery, fighting for who had their turn. Sometimes they would lose the arrows at the top of the trees and begin to throw stones and branches to take them down.

When suddenly, I was approached by a girl in her mid-thirties who I suppose was a mother or aunt of one of the boys and says: Kuchen🍰? What in German means: Cake 🍰? Apparently I looked hungry and invited me some birthday cake! Obviously I took the opportunity to congratulate one of the birthday boys because the other was still playing archery 🏹. They also invited me to play and spend time with them!

After playing and even competing against Margarita (I won!😂), one of the children that were playing archery, I said goodbye to the boys and started my way back, taking the last photos of the afternoon.

It fascinates me when something in your mind comes true. I always think of taking every opportunity I have. It is always better to do it than not to do it. And today, without any doubts sitting next to them was better than going to the other side of the pond …
